Camp
del Corazon is a non-profit organization that provides
year-round opportunities for children faced
with the challenges of
growing up and living with heart disease. Our main
program is a medically
supervised, experiential
summer camp for children who are otherwise not eligible
for a camping experience.
Our camp offers
opportunities to finally be "normal"; for the children
to forget their ailments and to
connect with others
who have had similar experiences and have similar scars.

On
Saturday, April 5, 2008 we will be holding our 5th
Annual Gala del Sol – a black tie affair and
largest
fundraising event.
As you plan your 2008
Contribution and Marketing Budgets, we hope that you
will consider us in your
giving. We are hoping you can donate an item or
certificate to be put
towards our silent/live
auction. All proceeds raised at this event go
directly to our programs.
Our
camp sessions are offered free-of-charge, as the
families affected by this disease already incur
incredible financial
burdens from medical bills and often have to seek
private or home schooling due to the
numerous doctors’
appointments and hospital stays their children require.
We are a grass-roots
organization that is
funded entirely through individuals, corporations and
fundraisers. We receive no
government funding.
It is with your assistance
that we can continue in our mission.
Since
1995 we have held camp on Catalina Island, 22 miles off
the California coastline, serving
approximately 300
children each year and we recently added a third camp
session in the Malibu Mountains,
which provided for an
additional 100 children who were able to experience the
benefits of summer camp.
In 2008, we will be
doubling the Malibu to add two weeks during the middle
of summer – at a time when
school calendars do not
conflict with our programs. This aspect alone will allow
for more children to the
opportunity to attend our
programs – most for the very first time in their lives.
Camp
del Corazon enriches the lives of children living with
heart disease. In addition to our camp
programs, we also provide
opportunities for growth, education and support. We also
host a Leadership
Program for young adults
who are no longer age-eligible for our camp. For more
